Reading Your Cardemon Grade: What the Numbers Mean

When Cardemon finishes a scan, it gives you more than a single number. Understanding each part of your results helps you make better decisions about grading, selling, and protecting your cards.

The overall grade

The headline 1–10 grade is a weighted summary of the four sub-grades. It mirrors the scale professional graders use:

• 10 — gem mint, essentially flawless.
• 9 — mint, with one minor issue.
• 7 to 8 — near mint to excellent, with visible wear.
• Below 7 — noticeable flaws or damage.

The four sub-grades

Beneath the overall grade you will see the factors that produced it:

• Centering — how evenly the artwork is framed, front and back.
• Corners — sharpness and whitening at the tips.
• Edges — chipping and whitening along the borders.
• Surface — scratches, print lines, and scuffing across the card.

The lowest sub-grade is usually what holds back the overall grade, so it tells you where the card is weakest.

The flaw breakdown

Cardemon also shows what it detected — off-center cuts, corner whitening, holo scratches, print lines, and more. This is the "why" behind your numbers, and it is the most useful part for deciding what to do next.

Reading the value estimate

Alongside the grade, you get a low-to-high value range for the identified card. Pair it with the grade to judge whether official grading is worth the fee.
